Effective area in check of contact stress in concrete

This article is also available in
ENCSDEESFRITPTNLHURO

Determination of the average stress over the effective area is required for the code-check of the contact stress in concrete block when the base plate is under compression. The contact stress is calculated as the design normal force N over the effective area Aeff.

The effective area Aeff is calculated as the overlap of the contact stress area Aeff,FEM, and the bearing offset of the anchored member Aeff,cm (its cross-section). These values are calculated automatically in the background based on the CBFEM analysis and the member cross-section offset given by the code.
